Editorial Assessment

I will read your manuscript and provide you with a thorough editorial letter that includes in-depth feedback concerning elements such as plot, pacing, characterization, worldbuilding, structure, consistency, style, and more. It will give you high-level feedback and important insight into the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript.

An editorial assessment is a great first step in the editorial process.

Developmental Edit  (Editorial Assessment + in-text comments and line edits)

In addition to a full editorial letter with overarching thoughts, you will also receive in-text line edits via Word's track changes feature and margin comments throughout your novel.

This is the most in-depth service I offer and will leave you with a polished manuscript and concrete suggestions of how to further shape your next draft.

Query Package Critique

I will review your query letter, synopsis, and first ten sample pages and make detailed recommendations on structure, tone, and content. I will also help you strengthen your query hook, determine which comparison titles to use, and compose a compelling and tightly-woven synopsis. We can have up to two rounds of back and forth edits.

Much of my role as an editor at a traditional publishing house was to judge submissions by the their first few pages, so I can attest to how important it is to have those first intro pages really grab a reader!
